Working From Home? Here’s Why You Should Consider Moving to the Province

It’s been almost a year since the country was put under varying degrees of community quarantine, and a lot of people are still working from home. Not only does the government require companies to minimize foot traffic in their offices, some company heads have decided to make WFH the status quo until things get better.

While vaccinations are slowly being rolled out, there is still no certainty as to when the pandemic will end. Hence, it’s safe to say social distancing and staying at home as much as possible will remain standard procedure.

If you’ve been experiencing cabin fever (as most people), you should consider moving to the province for the meantime. The idea of uprooting yourself may be daunting, but moving away from the overcrowded metro could be good for you.

According to British Vogue, you learn a lot from living in the countryside. First of all, you realize that not everything is on demand, and that can be a good thing. Having limited access to restaurants and stores makes you realize that you don’t need a lot of things to live a comfortable life. In fact, it might even help you get creative with all the resources you do have at your disposal.

The access to nature can be good for you and your mental health as well. According to Harvard Health, research in a growing scientific field called ecotherapy has shown a strong connection between time spent in nature and reduced stress, anxiety, and depression. With everything going on in the country and the world, everyone needs a little break so moving to a more serene environment with verdant surroundings could give you some peace.

On top of all these, basic necessities such as fruits and fish are relatively cheaper in the province. Rent is more affordable as well. As long as the area you’re eyeing has access to internet and comfortable living space, you should be set. The change of pace and scenery could do you a lot of good, and help you grow as a person. You might even find happiness there.
