Academy Award-winning film “Inside Out” is having a sequel next year!
According to reports, fans can expect new emotions to join the mind of teenage Riley, the film’s main character.
The official plot synopsis for the sequel reads, “Riley is an 11-year-old girl who loves hockey but experiences her world turning upside-down when she and her parents move to San Francisco. Riley’s emotions – led by Joy – try to guide her through this life-changing event. But, the stress of the move brings Sadness to the forefront. When Joy and Sadness are swept into the far reaches of Riley’s mind, the only emotions left in Headquarters are Anger, Fear, and Disgust.”

In the original film, the film introduced Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling), and Sadness (Phyllis Smith) as Riley navigated adolescence.
With Amy, Lewis, and Phyllis listed on IMDb as returning for “Inside Out 2,” it is possible that their respective emotions will still be in Riley’s mind. Besides these, fans can expect new emotions such as Envy, Ennui, Anxiety, and Embarrassment.
This news on new emotions comes from the @CanWeGetToast account on X. They disclosed that Bill Hader and Mindy Kaling would not return due to contractual issues.

While specific details of the sequel remain under wraps, one confirmed change is the absence of the movie’s original writers and directors Pete Docter and Ronnie Del Carmen.
The sequel will be directed by Kelsey Mann, with the screenplay penned by Meg LeFauve, who played a role in the screenplay of the original “Inside Out.”
