Margot Robbie Made Everyone Wear Pink Weekly On “Barbie” Set

Simu Liu also revealed that Margot Robbie hosted a “Barbie” sleepover

The “Barbie” movie and its cast have gone all-in on the color pink!

According to Ryan Gosling, “Barbie” lead star Margot Robbie created a weekly tradition called “pink day” during filming, where everyone had to wear something pink. “And if you didn’t, you were fined,” Ryan shared with People. Margot would then collect the fines and donate them to charity.

Ryan mentioned that the male crew members enthusiastically embraced “pink day” and even went the extra mile to honor Margot and director Greta Gerwig.

“At the end of the film, they all got together and, with their own money, made pink crew shirts with rainbow fringe,” Ryan explained.

It was their way of expressing respect and admiration for Margot and Greta’s work. Ryan likened the gesture to the memorable scene in “Dead Poets Society,” where the students stand on their desks and call out, “O captain! My captain!”

Ken actor Simu Liu also revealed that Margot hosted a sleepover for the actresses who played Barbie in the film, with the Kens allowed to visit or call in to say hello briefly. He emphasized their support while respecting boundaries.

Greta shared with GQ that Ryan once arranged for a Scottish man in a kilt to play the bagpipes and deliver a speech from “Braveheart” during the sleepover when he couldn’t attend in person.

“Barbie” is set to open in Philippines theaters on July 21, 2023.
