Sandra Bullock, the star of the new Netflix film “The Unforgivable,” applauded the streaming giant for its immeasurable contributions to the film industry.
“They’re good to artists. They’re good to filmmakers. If it wasn’t for Netflix, a lot of people wouldn’t be working,” she said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
She added that Netflix gave people from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to share their stories, and at the same time, have their work reach a wider audience.
“Their stories wouldn’t be told. Who would think that me, as a woman, would still be working at this point? I would have been out in the cow pasture. It’s true,” she said.
Prior to “The Unforgivable,” Sandra also starred in the Netflix hit “Bird Box,” which currently holds the record as the second most-watched film in the streamer’s history. She noted that other record-breaking films and shows like “Squid Game” reached more people with the help of Netflix.
“[‘Squid Game’ is] one of the bigger ones, but I’ve seen more work from other countries told by other nationalities, and we never would have had that 10 years ago, ever,” she said.
“It brings people together in a way that really, you know, we’re getting more and more divided, and yet, we have the streamers that are able to blend our stories together and go, look, same story, just different.”
