Content Creators Rosmar Tan, Rendon Labador Declared Persona Non Grata In Palawan

Palawan’s first district board member sees the incident as “malaking kabastusan”

Content creators Rosmar Tan and Rendon Labador are both denounced as persona non grata in the province of Palawan following a heated argument they had with a municipal staff in Coron.

Rosmar and Rendon, together with other members of Team Malakas, were penalized in compliance with the recommendation forwarded by Palawan’s first district board member Juan Antonio Alvarez on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. The petition was then granted by Palawan vice-governor Leoncio Ola.

This followed after the vloggers engaged a local government employee named Jho Cayabyab Trinidad in an altercation inside the mayor’s office.

In the circulating video, Rendon and Rosmar were seen enraged—pointing and insulting the employee—following a charity event they held in the municipality on Friday, June 14, 2024.

As reports have it, the team’s supplies had run out during the event—leaving a number of people empty handed. Due to this, the employee has expressed her disappointment on Facebook, saying that the team took advantage of Coron for clout and content.

@jlnenengkulit21 Pumunta kami para tumulong sa #coronpalawan ?? Meron po bang naganap na tulong? In a privilege speech held by Alvarez, he narrated and condemned the trespasses committed by the content creators, which he deemed as “malaking kabastusan” inside the municipal hall of Coron.

He states, “So, ang chronological events nun ay pumunta sila sa coliseum ng Coron para magbigay sana ng ayuda.

“On that day, saka po sila humingi ng assistance sa LGU.

As for Alvarez, this is what prompted Trinidad to express her sympathy over a number of locals who did not receive anything from the said event.

Doon, nagsisigaw sila at nagduduro-duro.

According to Alvarez, Trinidad’s statement is a personal opinion and is not indicative of Coron’s stance. More so, he emphasized that Rosmar and Rendon’s reaction went beyond the line, harming the entire Coron for a bad impression they hastily assumed.

Rosmar Tan, Rendon Labador apologize for the incident

Amid the online backlash, the group decided to issue a public apology through a Facebook video uploaded on Monday, June 17, 2024.

An emotional Rosmar acknowledges the gravity of their actions, saying that it’s understandable if their apology would hold no weight. And with this, they will fully accept the persona non grata punishment.

Rendon, on the other hand, promised to correct their faulty ways, and that the incident will serve as a lesson for them to be better.

We will be better. Babawi po kami.”

Rendon also pleads to receive the persona non grata all by himself, taking accountability for Rosmar and her husband Nathan who he says are very sincere. More so, Rendon wishes that he will be given one last visit to Coron, since he already promised his family a trip to the Island.

Rosmar and Rendon to face possible lawsuit

It seems that the content creators are in for more than being unwelcome guests to Palawan—as one of the board members brought up that they are looking for a more weighty punishment.

In an interpolation made by third district board member Rafael Ortega Jr., he emphasized that there is a need to seek legal advice over the possible charges they may file against the vloggers.

He says, “Ako, tingin ko nga, if I may suggest kay board member Anton, kasi kung persona non grata lang yan, it’s just an expression of sentiment na you are not welcome in Palawan.

Rosmar, Rendon, and the entire Team Malakas are yet to release a statement over the issue. FreebieMNL is open to involved parties who would want to air their side regarding the issue.
