Angel Locsin and Neil Arce tied the knot earlier this year and have finally settled into their humble abode. The couple reveals it wasn’t an easy task finding a new place because they had multiple factors to consider: it had to be comfortable, was accessible from work, and was within their budget. A virtual tour is up on their YouTube channel where they explained how they turned the house into a home.
The house was gifted to the newlyweds by Neil’s parents, so it was a bit dated. Angel made most of the design choices, keeping some of the existing furniture and fixtures. “We wanted to keep kasi kung ano yung pwede pang magamit na maganda naman. Inupdate ko lang itong mga budol finds ko, mga nabili ko sa mga online store,” she shares.
Besides reupholstering furniture and replacing some fixtures, there are other personal touches they added to the place. Throughout the house, they have gifts they bought one another and books they love on display. Their passion for music, film, and art is apparent, with a copy of The Fight Club stacked in one of the nooks of their living room and paintings from local artists hung up on the walls.
High ceilings and glass windows allow natural light to flow into the space, making it feel breezy and inviting. They used indoor plants to break up the monotony, and the wooden accent pieces tied in nicely with the overall design. Plus, the outdoor cooking area and poolside are surrounded by nature. Angel also mentions that her sister is into gardening and helped with some of the landscaping.
Angel and Neil revealed they learned a lot about each other during the renovation process, even though they’ve already known each other for years. Their advice to couples building a home is to “be honest and learn how to compromise.”
