Your Starbucks drinks just got sweeter with a serving of vanilla ice cream

Beat the summer with a sweet affogato? Don’t mind if we do!

The rising summer heat has reached a boiling point, or so it feels like, so who better to step in with a solution than Starbucks? For the longest time, the classic coffee chain has beaten the heat with cold brews and iced beverages, but this time, they’re kicking it up a notch by bringing back their delectable affogato drinks and cold brew floats in time for the sizzling season.

Coming from the Italian word which means “drowned,” an affogato is a coffee-based dessert where a single scoop of vanilla ice cream is drenched with or “drowned” in espresso, thus the name. Floats, on the other hand, are probably more familiar to the Filipino taste.

Their Classic Affogato pours two perfectly pulled shots of Starbucks Reserve espresso over rich vanilla ice cream. If you still want it to be sweeter, then try the House Affogato, which has a drizzle of golden demerara syrup, topped with a dusting of cinnamon powder.

If you prefer the tougher coffee kick offered by cold brews, then sip a glass of Starbucks Reserve Cold Brew Floats. The drink comes in three variants: the basic Cold Brew Float, served with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream atop a downy cold brew; the Nitro Cold Brew Float, which has a smoother and more satin-like feel to the palate; and the Cold Brew Malt, for those who like their cold brews milkier with its malted milkshake.

These cool and creamy creations are only available at select Starbucks Reserve branches, or specialized Starbucks joints that offer a selection of some of the rarest, most exquisite coffees in the world. There are currently a dozen Starbucks Reserve stores in Metro Manila, so swing by if you want to taste this delectable cross between coffee and dessert!

Starbucks Reserve branches can be found in Power Plant Mall, Stratosphere Building — Valero Street, The Assembly Grounds at The Rise, and Liberty Plaza in Makati; The Podium in Mandaluyong; Westgate Center — Alabang in Muntinlupa; Ayala Malls Manila Bay in Parañaque; Three E-Com Center in Pasay; Estancia Mall in Pasig; SM North Towers in Quezon City; and at The Finance Centre and The Plaza at Arya Residences in Taguig.
