The Best of Princess Diana’s Style

Late Princess Diana, fondly dubbed “The People’s Princess”, was known for her charitable contributions, charming demeanor, and impeccable style. While her life with the royals was far from perfect, the princess did leave a lasting legacy for both the public and the fashion industry.

As a lasting style icon, Princess Diana has provided us with many looks that we still draw inspiration from today. Without further ado, here are our picks for the best of Princess Diana’s style.

The infamous little black dress

The “revenge dress” of all revenge dresses, Diana’s infamous off-the-shoulder black ensemble sent a message to all those following the drama behind her royal split with former husband Prince Charles. She wore this dress the same night the latter confirmed his affair on national television. Widely considered as the late royal’s ultimate clapback, this little black dress made room for many women to feel more confident and powerful in the face of adversity.

Vintage sweater-cycling shorts combo

This look has made a major comeback in recent years for its casual cool vibe. Way before the Kardashian-Jenners were sporting biker shorts, the princess was seen on many occasions rocking the university sweater-cycling shorts combo with finesse. The look was so iconic it even led to a Diana-inspired Vogue Paris shoot with Hailey Bieber.

Colorblock dress

In the 80s and 90s, colorblocking was not a new concept. However, the Princess of Wales certainly did it with style in 1989 on a visit to Kuwait. The bright pink and red dress was a bold statement that showed that anybody could don clashing colors with the right amount of style.

High-waisted pants with blazers

High-waisted pants have certainly been in for quite a while! But again, Lady Di was able to transform simple pants into something chic by pairing it with flats and blazers. She immortalized the business casual landscape with this outfit and inspired us to always look our best, even on a laid-back day out.

Power blazer with baseball cap

The cap, the blazer, the boots — it’s all too perfect. While we already featured Diana’s denim-blazer outfit, this horse-riding look was too unique to pass on. Only Diana could pull off such a professional but cool aesthetic with vintage baseball caps and power blazers.
