Stock up on These Grocery Items Before the Holiday Rush

Christmas is fast approaching, and you might have already started shopping for gifts. But have you thought about stocking your kitchen pantry, too?

Planning your holiday menu in advance can help you save money while also reducing the amount of time you spend at the grocery store checkout counter. Here are a few products you should consider stocking up on before the holiday rush.

Hamon

A homemade pineapple-glazed ham would be the perfect centerpiece for your holiday dinner parties. But in case you’re strapped for time, you can also buy pre-made Hamon at the grocery to serve with the rest of your Noche Buena.

Queso de Bola

This red ball of cheese makes a special appearance during the festivities and can be used in various recipes. Enjoy it as is, or prepare a charcuterie board for guests to graze on throughout the night.

Pasta

Filipino-style spaghetti is a dish that’s always served at celebrations, so it’s ideal to have your pasta ready. Try using different pasta shapes like fusilli or penne this year to change it up a little. Don’t forget to add quality sauce to cook it with.

Baking Supplies

Baked goods are a nice treat on Christmas, so make sure to stock up on basic supplies like sugar, all-purpose flour, and vanilla extract. You don’t want to be in the middle of making cookies, only to realize you forgot to buy chocolate chips.

Alcohol

Having a couple of bottles of booze like wine or vodka on hand is not a bad idea. Even if you’re not a drinker, these drinks can be added to recipes for that extra kick. Stick to hard liquors that have a longer shelf life.

Fruit Cocktail

What’s a Filipino Christmas dinner without fruit salad? It’s a simple and tasty dessert that can be done with just a few ingredients. All you’ll need is a pack of all-purpose cream, a can of fruit cocktail, and sweetened condensed milk. Fresh coconut is optional.
