What exactly is the new QCitizen ID good for, and how can you get one?

Following the ratification of the National ID System or PhilSys last October, the local government of Quezon City has also instituted its own unified ID system: the QCitizen ID. 

Built to be a “one-stop shop” for local constituents, the new ID system aims to streamline government processes and optimize the delivery of social services. With it, a QC resident can ride the QCity Bus, take advantage of health and social services offered by the QC LGU, and more easily partake in the COVID-19 vaccination program. Aside from these, the ID also doubles as an identification card for solo parents, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities or PWD.

If you’re a resident of Quezon City and have a government-issued ID or a certificate from your barangay, then you can start your application for the QCitizen ID. Here’s how:

First, go to the Quezon City E-Service portal. Click on the QCitizen eApplication menu item among the list of services offered. Start your application by filling out the form with all the pertinent information. All inputs must match the data you provided for your government-issued ID.

Take note: a single QC E-Services account can only apply for one QCitizen ID. Other applicants must do so using a unique account. 

With your newly registered account, you will need to upload a scanned copy of your valid government-issued ID, your photo, and your signature. Once submitted, your application will be reviewed and approved by officers of the QC LGU. Once approved, you will be given a QCitizen digital ID and number, which you can refer to via the QCitizen app. Only residents who are 15 years old and above may be issued a free physical ID by the local government.

No internet connection? An on-ground registration will be roving around the various barangays in Quezon City, piloted by Barangay Central on January 15. 

Bear in mind that the city-wide unified ID is only effective for services provided within Quezon City, and is not as good as the National ID. For more information, you may refer to Quezon City’s official public information website.
