After their Top Social Artist nod at last May’s Billboard Music Awards and debuting at a digital billboard in New York’s Times Square last August, SB19 has achieved yet another milestone, this time earning a nomination at this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) for Best Southeast Asia Act.

SB19 joins five other nominees under the category, which also includes Indonesia’s Lyodra, Thailand’s Ink Waruntorn, Malaysia’s Naim Daniel, Singapore’s JJ Lin, and Vietnam’s K-ICM.

Since its addition to the EMAs in 2013, there have only been six Filipino acts to be nominated for the category. These include Nadine Lustre, James Reid, Moira Dela Torre, IV of Spades, Ben&Ben, and Sarah Geronimo. Geronimo has been nominated thrice — in 2013, 2014, and 2016 — and won the prize in 2014. Reid has also been up for the award twice — first in 2015, alongside Lustre — and won the award in 2017.

Voting has also opened as of Wednesday, October 20 for this year’s edition of the awards show. Fans can head over to the official MTV EMA voting page and click on their bet. Fans can vote once every 10 seconds.

This is the second international nomination for SB19 following April’s Billboard Music Awards where they were nominated for Top Social Artist alongside BLACKPINK, BTS, Ariana Grande, and SEVENTEEN.

The 2021 MTV EMAs will emanate from the László Papp Budapest Sports Arena in Hungary on November 14 and will be broadcast live on MTV channels across 180 countries.
