Get ready for round 2, because it seems that the Bennifer romance is heating up!
Back in April, dating rumors swirled around the former couple, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, when they were spotted together in the former’s SUV. They had apparently been “friends” who kept in touch with each other over the years.
Since then, paps have snapped them spending time together and getting cozy across the country in Montana and Miami.
Fans should remember that Lopez had recently broken off her engagement with Yankees star Alex Rodriguez, while Affleck split from girlfriend Ana de Armas earlier in January.
Since both celebs happened to be single at the same time, it seemed that the stars have finally aligned! Just this week, the couple was pictured sharing a kiss at a Malibu restaurant, confirming their rekindled romance.
Not aware of how big Bennifer was back in the day? Let’s rewind to 2002.
On the set of the box-office bomb Gigli, the two actors met for the first time. Lopez ended her engagement to Cris Judd shortly after and news of “Bennifer” (a portmanteau of Ben and Jennifer) exploded onto the tabloids.
The two experienced a high-profile romance and were known as one of the most iconic couples of the early 2000s, especially after Affleck was featured on Lopez’s “Jenny on the Block” music video.
They were engaged in November of 2002, but split a little more than a year later, citing pressure from the media as their reason.
For another decade, the pair moved on with other people. Affleck would go on to marry (then divorce) actress Jennifer Garner, with whom he shares three children: Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel.
Lopez would also go on to marry and divorce singer Marc Anthony, with whom she shares twins, Emme and Maximilian.
“I think different time, different thing, who knows what could’ve happened, but there was a genuine love there,” J.Lo told People magazine in 2016.
While the two share a very long and difficult love story, we’re hoping they get it right this time around!
