1.6M households experience power outage due to Typhoon Ulysses

Residents of Metro Manila and Southern Luzon experienced power blackouts after Typhoon Ulysses made a landfall yesterday, November 11 starting at 10:30pm. At 5am this morning, 3,803,810 experienced power outages due to strong wind and heavy rain.

As of this writing, Meralco has managed to repair and restore the electricity in some parts of Metro Manila, leaving 1.6M households or 22% with no power yet.

“As of 4PM, 1.6M households or 22% pa din po ang walang kuryente. Nabalik na ang kuryente sa mahigit 1.3M households simula kaninang 9AM,” Meralco announced on social media.

They also assured their customers that they are doing their best in restoring electricity as soon as possible.

“Wala pong humpay ang trabaho ng mga crews na naka-deploy 24×7. Ang leadership team ng Meralco ay patuloy din ang pagkumpas para sa mabilis at ligtas na restoration ng Meralco facilities. Rest assured that we are doing everything to restore power where it is possible and safe.”

Netizens call for compassion for linemen who are not ‘Aquaman’

While most of the residents were delighted with the news, some residents were complaining and demanding for linemen to restore their electricity.

Netizens called them out and asked for compassion for these linemen are also risking their lives in able for us to go back to normal.
