Congratulations are in order because British singer and songwriter Ellie Goulding is now a mother! The 34 year old has given birth to her first child with husband Caspar Jopling, who announced the news via his Instagram stories.
“Mum and baby both healthy and happy 🙂 Extremely grateful,” he said. “I don’t ever address the public attention that comes with Ellie’s job. But during this magical and personal moment, we would really appreciate being able to enjoy our privacy .. thank you x.”
According to Goulding’s interview with Vogue Magazine last February, having a baby wasn’t part of the plan. “The thought of getting pregnant didn’t seem like it could be a reality. Becoming pregnant kind of made me feel human. I want a better word than womanly, [but]–I have curves I’ve never had before. I’m enjoying it. My husband’s enjoying it.”
She also opened up about the challenges of being pregnant amid the pandemic, saying, “I actually went from being smug about how healthy my salads were and my breakfasts and eating nuts and seeds, and then all I wanted was McDonalds. And I was kind of terrified, I suddenly wanted all of the bad things! Whatever this baby did when it took over my body was like, Hell no–I do not want broccoli, spinach, collards! I just wanted sugar and carbs.”
Sounds super relatable, right? Knowing how artistically-inclined her parents, the new baby is bound to be very talented as well. Jopling and Goulding tied the knot last August 2019. The couple, who are known to be very private, didn’t announce the pregnancy until this 2021. They have yet to post a picture of the child, nor have they disclosed the baby’s gender. Knowing how private they are, fans might have to wait a while before learning more about the new baby.
