Christmas has brought on the most unexpected of Santas — Grammy-award winning rapper and producer Kanye West.

On Sunday, the “Good Life” rapper was spotted inside the Kennedy King College gymnasium in Englewood handing out loads of presents. According to ABC7, West bought and donated over 4,000 toys for children in his hometown of Chicago.

“I’m so proud that Kanye is, once again, responding to our request to help the children of Englewood and beyond,” Stephanie Coleman, the Alderman for Chicago’s 16th Ward, stated. “He is no stranger to our community. His presence has always been felt in our neighborhoods and he loves visiting, but this Christmas he has truly been our modern-day Santa Claus.”

She continued, “We want to thank him for understanding that children in Englewood, and on the South Side and in Chicago in general, some will be without this holiday. Some are without their fathers due to gun violence, due to mass incarceration, so today, we are here being a blessing.”

The massive toy drive was an entire event wherein children were able to receive food, play games, and win prizes.

The generous donation comes on the heels of West’s good deed for Thanksgiving, wherein he helped to deliver 1,000 Thanksgiving Eve meals at Skid Row in Los Angeles.

Back in November, the 44-year-old partnered with L.A. Mission to give back to the prevalent homeless population in L.A.

“We thank Kanye West for showing his heart and generosity today and bringing over 1,000 meals with him in tow,” L.A. Mission CEO Troy Vaughn had said in a tweet. “Our heart is with Kanye as he continues to show his heart for people who are less fortunate.”
