The building, which he purchased in 2008 for around $14.7 million (P714,000), is located near Cheongdam station and was used primarily for his label, Rain Company. Cheongdam is a well-known luxury neighborhood in Korea.

Rain later went on to sell the building for $43.5 million (P2 billion). However, after taxes and the $7 million (P340 million) he spent on renovations, the 38-year old singer/actor’s profit was significantly less than originally computed.

While the numbers may come as a surprise to those unfamiliar with the star, others know that Rain is no stranger to success.

Rain, or Jung Ji-hoon, has been known to be one of South Korea’s most prominent talents of all time, rising to international fame in the early 2000s for his music and acting career. He first started off as a trainee for JYP Entertainment, going on to release seven albums and hold several tours worldwide.

He’s also starred in the hit K-drama Full House, and had noteworthy roles in Hollywood movies like Speed Racer and Ninja Assassin. Additionally, he was the first Korean to win an MTV award for his role in Ninja Assassin and has made three appearances in the TIME 100 Poll.

As of now, Rain enjoys a life with his wife and fellow actress, Kim Tae-hee, and their two children.
