Carla: “I also wish it didn’t have to be a requirement for us celebrities to be thin”
Carla Abellana made a strong imploration on Instagram as she urged people to promote self-love amid unrealistic expectations set by the entertainment industry and society in general.
The 37-year-old actress uploaded a series of artcards on her Instagram on Thursday, April 25, 2024. Affirming in nature, the slides contain some wishes commonly associated with the superficial beauty standards.
The slides bear statements such as, “I wish I were slim like her,” “I wish I was tall as her,” “I wish I had eyes like her,” and “I wish I had hair like her” among other insecurities.
Just as much, Carla has her own version of “I wish” as her caption. It goes, “I also wish it didn’t have to be a requirement for us celebrities to be thin” followed by “I wish we could compare ourselves less and love ourselves more.”
Carla elaborates, “We live in a world where new insecurities are constantly implanted in people’s minds (especially women) making them feel that they’re less beautiful or just not enough according to the society standards.”
She adds, “I see women hating their bodies or parts of it because they do not match some fake ads and commercials that are made to instigate this very feeling in them.”
In the end, Carla highlights the drastic, harmful impact these expectations may cause on someone’s psyche—particularly on how they deviate people’s eyes from the things that truly matter.
She writes, “We all are a part of this have felt this sometimes in our life, but the fact is that this is a never ending race.
“And the more we feed our minds this kind of information, the deeper we get into the trap and the lesser grateful we become for this absolutely wonderful, magical, and simply awesome human body [God] has blessed us with.”
