Carla Abellana “Ready” On The Possibility Of Seeing Ex-Husband Tom Rodriguez

Carla: “Hindi mo maiiwasan yan”

Carla Abellana bares no worries at all if she ever stumbles upon ex-husband Tom Rodriguez, who recently came back to the Philippines after living abroad for over two years.

Tom took a hiatus from showbiz in 2022 following his separation from Carla. Two years later, the actor has finally returned to the Philippines, as shown in the photos uploaded by his talent manager Popoy Caritativo on Instagram.

In an interview in “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda” in February 2023, Carla shares that her separation with Tom was mainly from constant disrespect, lies, and betrayal that the actor had committed throughout their marriage.

While Tom’s return may pose awkwardness for Carla, the actress is feeling otherwise. She elaborates this at length during her interview with Nelson Canlas for “24 Oras” on Monday, January 29, 2024.

Carla says that she does not know that her ex-husband has already returned. Considering such, she shares that the possibility of seeing him does not make her, “intimidated, scared, nervous.”

Carla shares, “Of course, artista siya. May obligation siya. He’s a Kapuso. Dadating naman talaga yung day na babalik siya sa trabaho, hindi mo maiiwasan yan.

“I’ve thought about it many times, expected naman yan. Nobody just knew when, di ba

“So, I remember saying pa nga one time na natatanong sa akin, ‘So, anong magiging reaction mo? Let’s say, kapag nagkasalubong kayo or nagkita kayo.’”

When asked if Carla’s prepared for that moment, she responds with, “I think naman okay lang. Ready naman ako. Hindi naman ako yung type na, ‘Ay ayoko,’ or avoidant or what. You know, it’s inevitable, ika nga.”

That time might come sooner or later for the ex-couple. But until then, Carla’s been focused on doing several projects with her home network, GMA-7. One of which is her upcoming GMA Prime series, “Widows’ War” with Bea Alonzo.

During the contract renewal, Carla has extended her gratitude to the network who’s been her home for 15 years. She says, “This is a very special day for me. Nakakataba ng puso.

Ako ang dapat magpasalamat sa trust ninyong lahat and I will take good care of it. I will continue to grow and do my best sa pagiging artista at Kapuso.

Ito na ‘yung araw na pinagdasal at hinintay ko. Aalagaan kong mabuti ang opportunity at bagong chapter na ito.”

Annette has also aired fond words for Carla, saying that the actress’s career will propel to greater heights in the future. This is then echoed by Gilberto who says that Carla is one of the “finest examples” of homegrown talents who has evolved throughout the years.
