Belle Mariano reveals how Donny Pangilinan checks up on her in big scenes
Belle Mariano truly had a fun and challenging time portraying Caroline “Ling” Tiu in “Can’t Buy Me Love.”
As the series comes to a close, the Kapamilya actress looks back on the things she learned and how she was able to do her breakdown scenes for the character she portrayed for eight months.
Belle recalls these when FreebieMNL asked her about her process in doing her big scenes during the Q&A of the finale media conference of “Can’t Buy Me Love.”
She says, “Well, yung mga eksena, oo nga, oh my gosh I remember there was this one that we shot, dire-diretso!
“Of course, with the help of our directors, thank you Direk [Mae Cruz-Alviar], lagi namin pinag-uusapan ni Direk for my character development and I totally agree, noong una si Caroline, very stoic and now, may puso na siya.
“So, grabe talaga yung pinagdaanan niya, big help talaga yung aming directors and of course, our co-actors here, kung saan ako huhugot kasi I’ve been Caroline for eight months…”
At this point, Belle got teary-eyed, reflecting on her learnings from her journey with Caroline.
She continues, “She’s always gonna be a part of me kaya kung ano yung pinagdadanaan niya, talagang pinagdadaanan ko rin with her, kasi araw-araw ko rin question sa sarili ko, ‘Sino bang pumatay sa nanay ni Caroline?!’
“So, ang dami talaga, the story itself, while I was reading the script, nadadala ako.”
Aside from her directors, Belle also gets support from her love-team partner, Donny Pangilinan, in doing such big and emotional scenes.
Belle shares, “He’s always there, like, he’s gonna check up on you whenever I’m gonna do a big scene kasi nakikita niya yun sa sequence guide.
“Kunyari may breakdown scene ba akong gagawin, may big scene bang gagawin si Caroline, makikita ko na lang, magte-text siya, ‘Oh, kamusta, how’s your scene?’
“He’s gonna call, kunyari, magkaiba kami ng unit, so thank you!”
“Can’t Buy Me Love” is set to air its last episode on free TV this Friday, May 10. The series already wrapped its run on Netflix last Tuesday, May 7, 2024, with a big revelation about the killer of Caroline’s mother.
