Donny Pangilinan Takes Pride In Game Originally Made For His Film “GG”

“GG” is the first e-sports film in the Philippines!

Donny Pangilinan takes pride in his film, “GG,” as it showcases an original game made from scratch.

Called Requiem, the team of “GG” helmed by creative producer Hannah Pangilinan and director Prime Cruz created an original mobile game—complete with graphics an special effects—only for the film.

During a short Q&A after the premiere night of the movie on January 23, Donny shares how proud he is of the team behind “GG,” which is dubbed the first e-sports film in the Philippines.

Maraming salamat sa team namin. And I’m just so happy that this is a local film, Philippine made kaya sobrang proud ako.

At hindi lang po yun, yung game dito na nakita niyo, yung Requiem, made from scratch po yan. You won’t see this game anywhere else. It was really made for this movie.

“So, blood, sweat, and tears po ito, literally.”

According to Donny, it was only at the premiere that he was able to watch the whole movie.

“It’s a surreal experience. First time kong mapanood na full-length, with the effects and everything and I’m just so proud of the team.

“I’m just so proud of everything we’ve gone through. It hasn’t been an easy ride siyempre, pero sobrang ganda ng kinalabasan for me.

“I’m just so happy na nag-enjoy kaming lahat na mapanood and emotional din. Ang daming mixed emotions na meron. Pero yun lang, sobrang proud talaga ako sa team na ito. Solid talaga.”

In the process, Seth tries to live his new life with his estranged mother, played by Maricel Laxa.

“GG” is now on its second week in cinemas and also features an ensemble cast of artists and real-life gamers like Johannes Risler, Igi Boy Flores, Gold Aseron, Kaleb Ong, Christian Vazquez, Boots Anson-Roa, Marnie Lapus, and the late Ronaldo Valdez in one of his last films.
