Are you ready to see Donny Pangilinan in his gamer era?
After starring in several romance-drama projects, Donny Pangilinan is venturing into a new genre together with his family.
Pangilinan is about to wear a new fictional hat as he ventures into the world of e-sports in a film labeled as “the first full-length e-sports film in the Philippines.”
The “An Inconvenient Love” star’s newest film project was announced by MediaWorks, the media company of his dad Anthony Pangilinan on Instagram on March 29, 2023. Titled “GG” (a.k.a. “Good Game”), the film is set to be done in collaboration with Cignal Entertainment, which was revealed during the contract signing.
“GG” tells the story of an aspiring gamer Seth, played by the younger Pangilinan, who gets into a “competitive barkada gaming” while facing a “challenging family environment.”

Making the film even more exciting are the other “GG” headliners composed of ‘90s teen idol Baron Geisler, veteran actor Ronaldo Valdez, and Pangilinan family’s matriarch, Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan. The film is set to be the first time that the “He’s Into Her” star will be seen on screen with his mother.
Prime Cruz, the director of the series “Sleepless” and movie “Ngayon Kaya,” will be directing the upcoming film. Meanwhile, another Pangilinan is also on the team—”Pausecast” host Hannah Pangilinan, who will be serving as “GG’s” creative producer.
“Finally, I can share the reason I’ve been MIA. So blessed to be able to produce this movie together with MediaWorks, Cignal Entertainment, and Create Cinema,” the vlogger Pangilinan wrote in an Instagram post.
At press time, the other details of the film are yet to be announced. This new film comes on top of Pangilinan’s upcoming project with onscreen partner Belle Mariano, their first television series “Can’t Buy Me Love” which is slated to come out this year.
Apart from being an actor, Pangilinan also recently wore his businessman’s hat after franchising a Shell gasoline station together with his family. This new feat was shared by his dad on Instagram May 3, 2023.
“A successful collaboration with this esteemed company, calls for a solid partnership within the family,” the Pangilinan family’s patriarch wrote.
