International songstress Mariah Carey has tweeted about her Filipino fans after the holiday anthem “All I Want For Christmas Is You” reached an impressive streaming record on September 1.

The 54-year-old singer seems to have recognized that her fans in the Philippines usually start Christmas early, as indicated by a spike of streams that the song recorded on Spotify.
“Not yet!!!” She writes on X (formerly Twitter) as a lively reminder that despite the heavy streams, the Christmas season has not yet started.
However, she adds, “I’ll allow it for my Filipino lambs though! (I don’t make the rules!)” in a seeming acknowledgment that her Pinoy fans make up for a huge chunk of the total stream tally.

According to a post she quote-retweeted, the track raked a total of 316,000 streams—with Filipino fans streaming it 112,040 times on the first day of September.
Such figures account for a total of 75% jump from 2022’s record, putting it at no. 83 of the most streamed songs of Spotify for the particular day.
“All I Want For Christmas Is You” debuted 29 years ago as part of her album “Merry Christmas.” It topped the Billboard Hot 100 in January 2000 and went back for another top record in November 2019 and January 2023.
Filipinos’ Christmas icons
Mariah’s name has seeped into the local pop culture as one of the Christmas symbols. This is especially true on social media when netizens would put out Christmas-related memes of her at the start of Ber months.
