“Tonight, my heart is very kuwan…the best,” says Melai during her speech!
Melai Cantiveros has reached new heights after being hailed as one of the recipients of the Best Actor Award at Asia Artists Awards 2023.
The much-anticipated AAA 2023 was held at the Philippine Arena on Thursday, December 14, 2023.
The comedian was recognized as the only Filipino recipient of the category. Other recipients are Kim Sejeong, Ahn Hyo Seop, Lee dong Hwi, and Lee Jon Hyuk—all from South Korea.

In true comedic fashion, Melai has accepted her first-ever International award with humorous theatrics but still with meaningful thought about God’s “mysterious” plans.
During her acceptance speech, she says in Korean, “Magandang buhay! To Korea, my name is Melai Cantiveros from the Philippines, sowasoyo.
“To the… if someone question why I have award, don’t worry I question too. I just receive award, all of my life, from my mother and father, every time they’re angry to me [sic].
“Tonight, my heart is very kuwan…the best. I think it’s because God moves in mysterious ways.”
Melai also thanked the creative ensemble behind her latest action-comedy film “Ma’am Chief: Shakedown in Seoul.”
As for Melai, “It is because of the Pulp Studios… my Pulp Live World, Pulp Studios family, to my director of “Ma’am Chief,” Madam Kring Kim, sir Jimmy Kim, and to my producer that I cannot believe what the food that they eat why they chose me.
“To Sir Vernon Go and Inang Reyna Happee Sy-Go, thank you so much for this award. Thank you so much AAA.”
Melai also admits that she’s so overwhelmed by the award, which is why she is acting with so much gesture.
On top of the recognition she offered for her co-stars in the movie, Melai has also extended the milestone to her husband Jason Francisco and two daughters Mela at Stella.
She says, “To my husband na andito ngayon, Jason Francisco, Mela, and to baby Stella, nag-exam siya ngayon.
“Thank you Lord, thank you Lord, thank you Lord. Wala talaga. And to my family, we will serve the Lord.”

More than the prestigious award she bagged, Melai seemed to have captured the hearts of the netizens through her acceptance speech.
Melai trended following the event, with many netizens saying that Melai made their night with her comical and funny antics.
