“Hindi naman tita, ate lang,” Leren quips
Beauty queen-turned-politician Leren Bautista and basketball player Ricci Rivero broke their silence on the criticisms they received surrounding their relationship’s five-year age gap.
They shared their thoughts on the matter in an episode of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on February 16. The episode marked their first interview as a couple on Philippine television.
During the show, host Boy Abunda brought up the criticisms they received regarding their age difference.
Were they affected by these criticisms?
“Not so much, Tito Boy,” Ricci responded.
Leren added, “Hindi rin naman, Tito. Natatawa lang ako minsan kasi ‘pag sinasabi nila, tita daw ako ni Ricci. Sinasabi ko, ‘Hindi naman tita, ate lang!”
Leren then commended Ricci for his maturity, emphasizing their mutual understanding despite the age gap.
“In terms naman doon sa age gap, feeling ko naman, sobrang nagkakaintindihan naman kami with the level of maturity that he has. Sabi ko nga, parang mas mature pa siya sa akin pero ako ‘yung mas matanda,” Leren expressed.
After exchanging Valentine’s Day messages to conclude the “Fast Talk” segment, the couple talked about plans of being engaged and the love lessons they’ve gleaned from each other.
Ricci said, “Hindi niyo kailangan madaliin, hindi kailangan intentionally i-delay. Go with the flow pero andoon ang intent of getting to know each other more.”
Meanwhile, Leren explained, “It’s more on how you communicate with each other kasi magkaibang tao kayo. And, of course, the choice to stick with your partner kahit anong mangyari.“

The relationship between Ricci and Leren was confirmed in October 2023, following their public appearance at a UAAP Basketball game.
