Drew Barrymore is doing it all! After starting her own talk show last year, Drew has set her eyes on a new endeavor: launching an eponymous lifestyle magazine.
“I’ve always loved magazines because of the paper and the experience. Magazines are such a huge part of my life and they’re such a huge part of my inspiration for everything I do,” the multi-hyphenate celebrity said in an interview with WWD.
Due to the pandemic, lots of magazines have scaled down, lessened their print issues, or even stopped publishing altogether. So starting her own magazine now is a brave decision for Drew.
She will be working with Bauer Media Group for “Drew” magazine, which is set to be released on a quarterly basis. Its first issue will be distributed exclusively in Walmart for the first week, before becoming available everywhere else in the US.
The multi-talented actress said that just like “The Drew Barrymore Show,” this magazine will be full of optimism. “I know there will be an inherent identity to this magazine that is very commercial and very personal. Those are the two things that I think are our strongest point of view right now and our optimism. I call our show optimism TV. This is an optimism magazine,” she said.
Dream come true
The first issue of the magazine (available for USD 9.99 each) will be available starting June 14, 2021. It will include topics ranging from beauty, food, travel, and will even include a crossword puzzle! As she said, “every glossy page will include the people, places and things I love most.”
She also shared that starting her own magazine has always been among the things she’s always wanted to do. “I’ve dreamed of this day since I was a little girl, lining my walls with tears from my favorite magazines to make wallpaper… I can’t wait for you to see and enjoy what we have created for you.” she said.
