Bretman: “I’m so glad I’m not panget, weak and straight”
Celebrity content creator Bretman Rock did not let a homophobic remark pass by his TikTok feed without giving a sassy clapback in return.
The 25-year-old internet sensation has called out a Filipino gym coach for a seeming misrepresentation of masculinity and homosexuality through a TikTok video.
In question, it shows a certain Edison Vargas who associates the incapability to lift weights with being gay. As insinuated, the notion to be labeled gay for not being able to hold heavy objects is what prompts him to finish his workout routines.
On the screen, Edison says, “Dati nagpepre-workout pa ako para mabuhat ko yung last rep…Ngayon kailangan ko lang pala isipin…Bakla ako pag hindi ko nabuhat to!”

As the caption sits rather distastefully with Bretman, he then points out the workout error that the gym coach has just committed in the video.
He writes, “Lmfao girl atleast put your elbows closer together.” It was followed by “All that for such a light weight sis [laughing emojis]”
In a follow-up comment, Bretman has rolled a series of tirades against the coach—outrightly airing his contempt over the homophobic insinuations.
Bretman begins, “Since you’re back on my fyp let me just read you some more, Roach Edison. Only if you were strong as your braces trying to keep your teeth together, you wouldn’t need motivation.
He adds, “It’s the way that last rep didn’t even count bc you didn’t lock up [laughing emojis] sis you are GAAAAAY. Lastly – I’m so glad I’m not panget, weak and straight.”
The remark may have caused Bretman contempt, for he is an LGBTQIA+ member who also happens to be a fitness enthusiast. His TikTok videos are usually of content that includes gym runs—which involves extreme workout sessions and heavy lifting.

Gym coach explains side after Bretman Rock’s comment
The video has been taken down and it was followed by an explanation from the gym coach, who says that the content is not made to offend anyone.
He begins, “Kailangan ko na daw i-work out yung utak ko kasi hindi ko daw siya ginagamit before ako mag-post. Actually, before ako mag-post, tumingin ako ng ibang content sa TikTok na katulad nung ipo-post ko.”
Stitched to the video is a montage of men doing weights and insinuating the same homophobic remarks that the gym coach has committed. Taking inspiration from them, the gym coach adds that he was only compelled to do the same because it was an ongoing trend in other countries.
He continues, “Hindi lang sila yung nag-post, madami pa kasi yun yung trend sa ibang bansa or may few dito sa Pilipinas. So, ngayon, tiningnan ko yung comment section, wala namang negative comments, wala namang nagsasabing homophobic sila.
“Ngayon, ako yung nag-post, same yung content pero homophobic daw ako. Hindi ko po siya pinost to harm your feelings. Wala po akong ibang intensyon para saktan kayo or ma-offend kayo or i-trigger kayo.
“To cut the long story short, pinost ko siya dahil nakita ko lang. And nakita ko rin na wala namang masama para i-post siya kasi wala namang negative comments.
“And, kaya ko lang naman ginagawa yung video na ‘to is because ayaw kong magbago yung paningin ko sa inyo. Ayaw kong magbago yung paniniwala ko sa inyo. Kasi may mga clients din ako na nasa LGBT community pero nirerespeto ko nang sobra.“

In the end, the gym coach says that he views his LGBTQIA+ clients as strong people, for they live they life the way they want.
At press time, the gym coach’s TikTok account is nowhere to be found on the platform and was believed to have been deactivated by the owner.
