Chinese Man Caught Running Naked on MRT3

A foreign man went viral on social media on Thursday, August 12, for running naked on the MRT3 tracks. Commuters witnessed the Chinese national suddenly remove his clothes, run, and jump on Boni Station’s rail line towards Shaw Boulevard. He is now under investigation at the Bureau of Immigration (BI).

The incident happened at 5:35 in the morning and shocked other passengers waiting for the next train to arrive. Shortly after the man ran loose, four security personnel chased him on the tracks. Assistant Secretary Eymard Eje explained they had to hold him down on a stretcher because he was unruly. He said the commotion probably stemmed from a miscommunication since the offender did not understand English.

According to one of the witnesses, the foreigner insisted on entering the MRT station. However, guards would not allow him to go through and forcefully confiscated his luggage. Some of the content of the suitcase were tossed carelessly, which included a mosquito coil, lotion, and a mug. The witness adds that he’s glad the train halted in time, or the man could have been crushed.

The 27-year-old Chinese national was handed over to the Mandaluyong City Police in coordination with the BI and MRT officials. Charges of Alarm and Scandal, as well as Indecent Acts and Exposure, have already been filed against him. Upon further investigation, Police Lieutenant Jorefil Manigos reports that the man is unemployed and jobless. He adds that the foreigner refused to speak during the inquest.

In the meantime, the Chinese man will be detained in the country as officials review his immigration status. Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente stated that if the offender is illegally staying, he could be subjected to deportation proceedings once the cases are resolved. MRT apologizes for the incident and is looking into ways to fix its current bag inspection system.
