David Licauco Reveals He Once Considered Dating Barbie Forteza

David Licauco admits asking himself, “What if?”

“Pambansang Ginoo” David Licauco has been the latest seat-taker of Bea Alonzo’s YouTube lie-detector test, wherein he was asked about his life leading up to his breakout role in GMA-7’s “Maria Clara at Ibarra” as well as his on-screen partner, Barbie Forteza, who he once thought of dating in real life.

David and Barbie’s television chemistry has prompted many to think that their relationship might fare just as well in real life, even if Barbie is already committed to his boyfriend of six years, Kapuso actor Jak Roberto.

During the lie-detector challenge, Bea asked if such an idea crossed David’s mind, to which he immediately answers, “No.”

However, the pulse renders otherwise, which prompts Bea to say, “First lie of the day!”

David then offers an explanation, saying that he respects Jak and Barbie’s relationship while also considering the thought. He says, “Siyempre, I respect yung relationship nila and all that. Pero, like, totoo naman. What if?”

Bea then explains that such a case is also true for her and her then-on-screen partner John Lloyd Cruz. While they both never engaged romantically, she admits thinking of dating the 40-year-old actor in real life.

“That doesn’t mean you will act upon it,” Bea says, to which David has agreed.

David Licauco is friends with Jak Roberto

David confirms that he remains friends with Jak, regardless of the constant pairing that he and Barbie receive from their fans.

“We’re friends. Artista din kasi siya. I think he knows all the ins and outs of this industry. I think si Barbie, hindi rin naman nagkukulang to give him assurance. Knowing Barbie, she’s a good person. I think that she’s a good partner also,” he says.

Following the strong finish of “Maria Clara at Ibarra,” David and Barbie are set for another primetime power team-up for the upcoming TV adaptation of “Maging Sino Ka Man.”

On top of that, BarDa had flown to South Korea in May as part of their film “That Kind Of Love.”
