Who missed Marimar and her beach waves?
Marian Rivera rides the Asoka makeup trend on TikTok as one of her iconic GMA-7 characters—Marimar.
The 49-year-old actress’s new social media content is reminiscent of the 2007 Kapuso primetime series as she transforms into the well-received titular character of Marimar.
Just like the Asoka challenge, Marian’s video is composed of short makeup clips stitched together to create a quick transformation. But far from the Hindi inspiration of the trend, Marian can be seen donning a beaded outfit and wavy beach curls instead.
It was in 2007 when Marian portrayed the character for the television series “MariMar.” It was an adaptation of the hit Mexican telenovela of the same name, which Marian gave a Filipino rendition to the iconic role of Thalia alongside her now-husband Dingdong Dantes.
Aside from “MariMar,” Marian has also appeared in other iconic GMA-7 series, including “Dyesebel” in 2008 and “Mars Ravelo’s Darna” in 2009.
As of this writing, Marian’s TikTok video was taken down for no apparent reason, but several copies have been reshared by different accounts. Before it was removed, it already gained an impressive 1.9 million views.

The video is still up on Facebook and Instagram and has been liked, shared, and engaged on by thousands of fans since its publication on Saturday, April 27, 2024.
After the release of her anticipated video, Marian has hit a massive 30 million followers on Facebook. This, in turn, has prompted Marian to express her appreciation to the continued support offered by her fans.
Marian writes, “Happy 30m followers on Facebook! Feeling grateful for all the love and support I’ve received. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
Her other social media pages have been getting tighter tractions too, with her Instagram account recording 13 million followers already and her TikTok an impressive record of 99 million likes.
