Heart is all praises for Jodi’s beauty and attitude!
Beyond their commonality as celebrities, Heart Evangelista reveals that she and Jodi Sta. Maria are second-degree cousins.
The fashion icon surprised the netizens over the fact that she and Jodi are actually related by blood—through her mother’s kin.
In an undated livestream video on Instagram where Heart answers questions from netizens, Jodi was passively brought up. Paying attention to the query, Heart reveals, “Jodi Sta. Maria is my cousin from my mother’s side.”
Even though they are related, Heart says that it was only after she joined showbiz that she was made aware of their relationship.
She says, “And I didn’t even know she was my cousin until like a few years of show business. But she’s my cousin. Second cousin. From my mom’s side.”

Following such a revelation, Heart offers Jodi the sweetest words of appreciation—saying that the 41-year-old actress is one of the most personable celebrities in the entertainment industry.
Heart says, “I love Jodi Sta. Maria! She’s super nice. Those are one of the genuine, genuine ones in show business.”
She even emphasizes that “Jodi is a great actress,” while comparing the latter’s physique to Hollywood celebrity Natalie Portman, who she says has a stellar beauty.
She says, “She’s from the Philippines and she’s like Natalie Portman exactly. Super beautiful [and she has] super expressive eyes. I love her.”

Heart was born and raised by Reynaldo Ongpauco and Ma. Cecilia Payawal Ongpauco. Meanwhile, Jodi was brought up with her brother Carlo by their single mom, Mercedita Sta. Maria.
Heart is married to Chiz Escudero, while Jodi is raising her kid Panfilo “Thirdy” Lacson as a single mother.
Both celebrities are doing well in their respective craft. Heart has been a prominent figure in both the fashion and entertainment industry—with her range reaching international recognition.
Jodi, on the other hand, has also been winning several acting awards—the recent of which is the 2022 award from Asian Academy Awards wherein she was hailed as best actress.
