Danica: “Ako yung mas vocal sa aming dalawa. Kasi I know how it works; I grew up in the industry, e”
Danica Sotto shares that transparent communication keeps her relationship with Marc Pingris afloat whenever there are controversies hounding them as a couple.
The 42-year-old celebrity bares in an interview with GMA Integrated News a bit of her life as a wife—particularly on how she handled the recent tittle-tattle involving her husband.
Danica begins, “Actually, it sounds cliche ‘no? Parang sabihin mo, napaka-common naman ng sagot ko pero it all boils down to usap, e—communication talaga.
“Di ba, parang ‘Anong nangyari?’ ‘Bakit kaya nagkaganito?’ ‘Anong pwedeng gawin para hindi ma-misinterpret?’ ‘Anong pwedeng gawin para maiwasan?’”

Considering that basketball players like Marc aren’t at all used to industry gossip, Danica says that whenever they are being hounded by rumors, Marc seems to shy away from it—be it about himself or a teammate.
With communication being their stronghold, Danica says that they find humor in superficial allegations. However, in moments when news comes out libelous or implicating of their image, that’s when she finally speaks up.
She says, “Ako yung mas vocal sa aming dalawa. Kasi I know how it works; I grew up in the industry, e.”
Danica adds, “Kay Marc, ganun. Ako yung mas vocal, ako yung nagsasabi sa kanya minsan na parang, kunwari, ‘Naku, itong bagay na ito, mag-expect ka, papalakihin pa yan.’ Ako yung mas ganun.”

Did Danica Sotto ever feel offended by issues?
Having grown up in a showbiz family, Danica has already gotten used to how rumors work. When asked if there was a time she felt offended by gossip, Danica recalls the recent controversy that links Marc with Kim Rodriguez.
While Danica did not go into details, she says, “Wala pa naman talagang grabeng below the belt… Siguro yung last, yung pinaka-last issue, di ba? Yung parang cheating-cheating.
“Napikon lang naman ako din dun is parang nakakatawa kasi, they really… Ang galing magtahi-tahi ng tao ng kwento. Na parang, I’ll give an example ‘no? Na sabi ko nga ayaw ko nang pag-usapan kasi nga we really want to move on from it.
“Para magkaroon din ng clarity. I posted some things sa IG stories ko, I remember, about betrayal and loyalty.
“Sometimes, Nelson, I post because I like the quote or sometimes…Nung time na yun, aaminin ko, it was a feeling that I was feeling about someone else. Parang napipikon ako sa isang tao, and that is a person na nanloko sa amin sa negosyo—a person we truly trusted.”
However, while going through something “major” in their business, Danica’s statement got sensationalized by a tabloid—attesting that Danica has already confirmed the issue between Marc and Kim.
As netizens fan the flame further, Danica just felt the need to keep quiet and instead talk things out with Marc. As for Danica, she reminded Marc to “ingat sa mga nakakasama” and “ingat sa mga pinupuntahan” so as not to draw any issue.
Marc and Kim’s alleged affair sparked in March 2024 when eagle-eyed netizens noticed that they were in both similar places—as indicated by photographs.
Just immediately, Kim has clarified that there was no truth to the rumors, and that she was actually with someone else during that particular trip to Subic. This was then confirmed through her talent manager Ogie Diaz.
Marc has also released a statement, saying that the tittle-tattle holds no truth to it—and in fact, he is very much on good terms with his family. In the end, the basketball player asked for respect for the sake of their kids.
