Jujutsu Kaisen fans have definitely shown love for their favorite series by showing out in droves for the newly released Jujutsu Kaisen 0 film.
In just its first day of screening in Japan. The action-packed film Jujutsu Kaisen grossed a whopping 1.05 billion yen. Roughly P462 million. That also makes it the second-highest Day 1 gross of all time for an anime film in the country.
Additionally, after three days, it raked in 2.69 billion yen (1.1 billion pesos), cementing it as theÂ second highest-grossing movie for a three-day period, according to the film’s distributor, Toho Co. On the other hand, the only film that stands in the way of the record was Demon Slayer: Mugen Train.
Certainly, The box office figures don’t come as any real surprise; the film was highly anticipated months before its release. Set as a prequel to the extremely popular anime series. Jujutsu Kaisen 0 tells the story of Yuta Okkotsu. A high school student plagued by the curse of his childhood sweetheart. He seeks the help of sorcerer Satoru Gojo, who works to teach Yuta the ways of Jujutsu High.
The original story of Jujutsu Kaisen 0Â began as a manga titledÂ Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School. Gege Akutami created the manga in 2017. It set the tone and world for the more popular Jujutsu Kaisen series, which captivated anime lovers in 2020.
From the manga’s humble beginnings, it seems that the Jujutsu Kaisen franchise is reaching significant new heights. Toho Co. projected lofty numbers for the new movie, expecting it to gross around 10 billion yen (4.4 billion pesos).
While an international release for the film has yet to be announced. Fans can rewatch the first season of the anime through streaming channels like Netflix and Crunchyroll. They can also read the manga on sites like VIZ Media.
