JYP is preaching the word of God, apparently.
K-pop fans went crazy when they saw Korean entertainment mogul Park Jin-young (aka JYP) in Cebu. These eagle-eyed netizens soon learned he was there for a religious seminar.
TikTok videos of him in the Queen City of the South went viral. A lot of fans saw clips of him preaching and signing autographs, which sent them into a frenzy.
He didn’t have a large entourage, nor was he greeted by media upon arriving at the airport. This meant that his trip was personal, and he had every intention of staying low-key.
Fans are being respectful by keeping their distance from him. But others got up the courage to approach JYP before he started preaching. Most waited for him to finish before asking for autographs and pictures.
Who is JYP?
Park Jin-young also goes by the monikers JYP or J.Y. Park. He was a singer-songwriter before becoming a reality show judge and record producer.
He founded JYP Entertainment in 1997, which is now one of the most popular labels in South Korea. Notable acts like 2PM, ITZY, Rain, Stray Kids, TWICE, and Wonder Girls are under his label.
JYP Entertainment started out as a record label in 1997. Now, it’s a talent agency, a music publishing house, a concert production company, and more.
The company is already 25 years old, but would-be K-Pop stars are scrambling to sign under it. This proves that it’s a great company that takes care of its artists.
Sprightly as ever
At 50, JYP still has a spring in his step, which was remarkable for his age. He has also not given up releasing music on his own. His last release as a singer was his 2020 collaboration with Rain titled “Switch to Me.”
But the entertainment mogul has slowed down a bit, as he is also now preaching the word of God everywhere. It’s currently unknown if he’ll be staying here for a while longer, but the internet will always let us know.
