Kris quips that she was “traumatized” by the haircut!
Kris Bernal has recently had a good laugh at an old video of her emo-inspired hair makeover during her time in GMA-7’s reality talent competition “StarStruck.”

The old clip was posted by the Kapuso Network on its official Instagram account. It shows Kris—then “StarStruck” aspirant—undergoing a hair makeover.
However, contrary to the plan of just trimming her hair an inch shorter, the succeeding shot surprisingly shows a teary-eyed Kris in what seemed like a butchered hairstyle inspired by the emo culture that had trended at that time.
The hairstylist—Richard Perello—explained in the video that he opted to give Kris a short haircut since all of the girl “StarStruck” aspirants are already channeling longer locks.
Catching the attention of Kris, she then reshared the video on her Instagram story and captioned it with, “Yung trauma ko dito. Chareeeet.”
On top of that, Kris also drops a series of laughing emojis on the video’s comment section. Even her GMA-7 colleagues could not help but react to the resurfaced clip.
Carla Abellana comments a simple and exclamatory, “Kris!” Meanwhile, Kristof Garcia quips, “Kris Bernal Emo Punk Era.”
Rita Daniela also reacts with, “HAHAHAHAHA MAREEEE,” while Brent Valdez says that even he will cry if the same thing was done to him.
Shyr Valdez says she totally understands Kris’s tears, while Janeena Chan could not help but respond, “Omg.”
The stylist, Richard, also comments on the video in what seemed like a clarification of his decision to cut Kris’s hair short back then.
He explains, “Haha grabe kayo sa akin that time uso yan at utos yan ng gma sa akin cut it short Di naman po tlga ako gugupit nyan pero sabi go! pero dami k naging client after k macut hair nya dami gusto pagaya 2005 i think pa yan [laughing emoji].”

During her time in the 4th season of “StarStruck,” Kris was hailed together with Mart Escudero as the Ultimate Love Team. Jewel Mische was named as the Ultimate Sweetheart, while Aljur Abrenica bagged the Ultimate Hunk title.
Kris’s last project was GMA-7’s afternoon series, “Artikulo 247,” with Rhian Ramos, Benjamin Alves, and Mark Herras.
Kris got married to non-showbiz husband and businessman Perry Choi in 2021. Their child is Hailee Lucca who they welcomed in September 2023.
