LJ Reyes surprises many with engagement news!
Celebrity mom LJ Reyes announced on social media her engagement with non-showbiz boyfriend Philip Evangelista on Tuesday, May 30, 2023.
The Instagram post features a series of snaps of the actual proposal along a bay area.
LJ captions it with a bible verse that reads, “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11”
According to the tag, LJ is engaged with a non-showbiz figure Philip Evangelista, whose Instagram account is set in private.
Congratulatory notes have rained in the comment section, most of which come from other celebrities, such as Iza Calzado, Camille Prats, Marian Rivera, and Kaye Abad.
LJ before her engagement
In September 2021, LJ made the decision to live in the United States with her two children, Ethan Akio and Summer Ayana.
Aki is LJ’s son to actor Paulo Avelino, while Summer is her daughter with Paolo Contis.
LJ’s decision to live abroad came shortly after her unpleasant breakup with then Paolo, who is now in romance with actress Yen Santos.
LJ and Paolo’s infamous breakup in 2021 had seen a lot of tears from the former as she publicized explicit details of their relationship in one of Boy Abunda’s interviews.
As for LJ, their breakup wasn’t made under mutual terms. “Naniniwala ako, kapag mutual [ang] isang decision, pareho kayong sumasang-ayon na hindi na nagwo-work yung relationship.
“Matagal ko na nararamdaman na nakahiwalay na siya sa amin. Ramdam na ramdam ko po yun,” she adds.
Just days after LJ’s revelations, Paolo issued a statement in a seeming confirmation of his infidelity from LJ.
However, the actor cleared that Yen is in no way involved in the issue, despite persistent rumors about them. It was only in January of 2023 that he confirmed his relationship with Yen.
