American-Canadian actor Matthew Perry has died at the age of 54.
He was found dead in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home on Saturday, October 29, according to authorities.
According to reports, authorities responded at about 4 p.m. to his home, where he was discovered unresponsive.
Matthew is best known for portraying Chandler in the U.S. sitcom “Friends,” which ran from 1994 to 2004.
His co-stars were Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc. The series is considered one of the top-rating sitcoms of all time in the U.S.

Tribute to Matthew Perry
Warner Bros. Television Group, the producer of “Friends,” issued a statement to Los Angeles Times about Matthew’s untimely passing.
The statement reads, “We are devastated by the passing of our dear friend Matthew Perry. Matthew was an incredibly gifted actor and an indelible part of the Warner Bros. Television Group family.
“The impact of his comedic genius was felt around the world, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of so many. This is a heartbreaking day, and we send our love to his family, his loved ones, and all of his devoted fans.”
NBC, the television network that carried “Friends” for its ten seasons, also paid tribute to the late actor.
It said in its statement to the Los Angeles Times, “We are incredibly saddened by the too soon passing of Matthew Perry. He brought so much joy to hundreds of millions of people around the world with his pitch perfect comedic timing and wry wit. His legacy will live on through countless generations.”
Maggie Wheeler, who played Chandler’s on-and-off girlfriend Janice, paid tribute to Matthew through an Instagram post.
She wrote in the caption, “What a loss. The world will miss you Matthew Perry . The joy you brought to so many in your too short lifetime will live on. I feel so very blessed by every creative moment we shared.”
Morgan Fairchild, who played Chandler’s mother in “Friends,” said about Matthew, “I’m heartbroken about the untimely death of my ‘son’ … The loss of such a brilliant young actor is a shock.”
Other personalities who paid tribute to Matthew are Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Viola Davis, Selma Blair, among others.
Even Filipino celebrities who are fans of “Friends” also mourned the death of Matthew, including Jake Ejercito, Alex Gonzaga, Gretchen Ho, Angelu de Leon, Mikoy Morales, Jo Berry, Leo Consul, and Arron Villaflor.
