Miles Ocampo admits asking when the role was first offered to her: “Final answer po ba na ako talaga?”
Miles Ocampo reveals that she got emotional after getting the title role in TV5 and APT Entertainment’s new light-drama series, “Padyak Princess.”
The project serves as Miles’ biggest break on television, marking her first title role in her 20 years in showbiz.
During the press conference for the daytime series on June 4 at TV5 Media Center, Miles got teary-eyed when she was introduced as the lead star of the show.
She then revealed that she actually cried when APT Entertainment first presented the project to her. Miles recalls asking in disbelief, “Sure po ba kayo? Talaga?”

During the Q&A, Miles told FreebieMNL that she actually never thought that a lead role on television will still come her way.
She says, “Sa teleserye, parang hindi po. Sa pelikula, alam ko naman na may susugal.
“Pero sa teleserye, parang for me kasi, napakalaking responsibilidad niya sa buhay ng isang artista, lalo na’t daily po yung palabas kaya hindi ko na po masyadong inisip yung pressure. Pero grabe yung pressure ng show na ito.”
Miles also appreciates that even if she is just new to TV5, she is given opportunities to headline and become part of their flagship programs.
“Ang sabi ko nga po, kahit papaano ay bago pa lang din po ako sa network na ito, bago pa lang po ako sa TV5 noong lumipat dito yung ‘Eat Bulaga!’
“I’m grateful na sa dami-dami ng pwedeng mabigyan ng ganitong klaseng proyekto, ako po yung napili nila for ‘Padyak Princess’ kaya maraming maraming salamat po.
“Nakakatuwa, nagkataon lang din po na Monday to Sunday dahil nga po sa ‘Emojination.’ So, I’m grateful kasi meron tayong hosting, meron tayong acting, pwede pa po akong magsayaw Direk Mike, TV5!
“Grateful lang po ako na ito pong mga tao ay sumusugal at naniniwala po sa akin.”

Handpicked to do the role
During the press conference, APT Entertainment CEO and President Mike Tuviera revealed that Miles was really handpicked for the role since it was conceptualized.
He explains, “Yung ‘Padyak Princess’ talaga, when it was conceptualized, si Miles na talaga yung naiisip namin even in terms of casting, I think we cast it to her already.
“Noong mineet namin siya, parang umiiyak siya doon sa office ‘tapos sinasabi niya, ‘Totoo ba to, Direk? Totoo ba to?’ Totoong totoo ito Miles, wala na, too late na, you are our princess, wala kang magagawa.”
With this fact, Miles promises to do good and hopes to deliver what is expected of her.
She says, “Sabi ko nga po, lumaki kasi ako since nagsimula ako sa industriyang ito, na-train ako na hangga’t hindi ka pa umeere, pwede ka pang mapalitan. Kaya sinasabi ko lagi, hindi pa nagsi-sink in sa akin, ito ngayon, medyo medyo pero kapag talagang umere na yung show dun pa lang siya mag-sink in sa akin kasi napagdaanan ko po yun, e. Hangga’t hindi ka pa umeere, di ka pa sure.
“So, nagpapasalamat ako sa APT, kela Direk Mike na noong prinesent po nila ito sa akin, parang siguradong-sigurado po sila sa akin. Kaya tinanong ko na final answer po ba na ako talaga? Kasi alam ko naman po na gagawin ko yung best ko pero hindi lang ako sanay sa ganitong pressure.
“Pero simula lumaki naman po ako, maswerte ako na napapabilang ako sa magagandang proyekto. Pero this time, tayo na po mismo yung [bida] ng show kaya ito po yung mga tao, sila Direk Mike, TV5, sila po yung mga taong naniwala sa akin na kaya ko itong gawin. Ayokong i-disappoint sila.”
“Padyak Princess” started airing on TV5’s daytime slot on Monday, June 10, at 11:15 a.m. The project directed by Easy Ferrer also stars Jameson Blake, Joao Constancia, Kira Balinger, Gillian Vicencio, among others.
