The 49th MMFF has officially surpassed last year’s P500 million box office earnings
In response to the overwhelming public demand and the festival’s Php1 billion earnings, the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) has officially extended the theatrical run of its movie entries to January 14.
Atty. Don Artes, the acting chairman of MMDA and Overall Concurrent Chairman of MMFF expressed gratitude for the widespread support and social media requests to prolong the exhibition of the MMFF 2023 films, originally scheduled to conclude on January 8.
He stated, “We at the MMFF would like to express our deepest gratitude to all who have supported us and watched the movie entries, particularly those who requested for the MMFF movies to extend beyond its original run.”

He added, “Marami pong salamat sa inyong patuloy na pagtangkilik. Moviegoers, may mga karagdagang araw pa para panoorin lahat ng MMFF entries.”
Don announced the extension, giving moviegoers an additional week to catch the festival entries. He also revealed that MMFF complimentary passes would be honored until January 14.
The 49th MMFF has achieved a box office milestone by earning a total of P1 billion, surpassing the earnings of the 2022 festival of P500 million.
Atty. Don expressed optimism that earnings would continue to rise as more moviegoers experience the diverse entries. He stated, “Truly, this year’s MMFF is a certified box office hit. This is a good sign as we gear up for the Manila International Film Festival (MIFF).”

The ten movie entries in this year’s lineup include: “A Family of 2,” “(K)Ampon,” “Penduko,” “Rewind,” “Becky and Badette,” “Broken Heart’s Trip,” “Firefly,” “GomBurZa,” “Mallari,” and “When I Met You in Tokyo.”
These entries are slated to be screened at the inaugural MIFF scheduled from January 29 to February 2, 2024, in Los Angeles, California.
