Fans have impatiently been asking for a new album and Lorde is finally giving them what they asked for. The Grammy award-winning artist’s much-awaited third album was announced with a cheeky album artwork and it’s set to arrive sometime this year. Of course, the internet went berserk and had the best reaction memes in response to the news.
Patience is a Virtue
It’s been four years since Melodrama was released so any mention of a new album gets fans excited. She first teased her next album in 2019, saying it was “in the oven”, and again in 2020 when she sent a newsletter describing her new music as “so f*cking good.” All we know from the official website is that she’s dropping Solar Power this 2021 and patience is truly a virtue.
Brand New Sounds
When BlackBird Spyplane asked Ella Yelich-O’Connor — Lorde’s real name — what fans can expect from her upcoming music, she doesn’t divulge too much and admits it has been a kooky year. “I guess with me, as an artist, generally, no one ever knows when anything’s coming anyway.” Fans just have to trust that something is taking shape and that this new album produced by Jack Antonoff will be brilliant.
The Best Reaction Memes
Leave it to Twitter to come up with the funniest response to the announcement of the album. We don’t blame them, though, because it really has been a long time coming since the last.
It’s literally going to be a Hot Girl Summerâ„¢.

Besides making music, Lorde went on a trip to Antarctica and documented the whole process for the Going South photobook. Maybe it’s the extreme cold weather that inspired the upcoming album. Fans suspect Solar Power will debut on the Solar Eclipse (June 10) or Summer Solstice (June 21).
