Nadine Lustre Wins Best Actress Award At FAMAS 2023

ANIMA Studios’ “Leonor Will Never Die” adds another trophy, this time from FAMAS!

The Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) held its 71st edition on Sunday, August 13, with actress Nadine Lustre bagging the Best Actress award for her role in the 2022 film “Greed.”

Held at Manila Hotel, the award-giving body has bequeathed Nadine another Best Actress feat for her important portrayal as Kichi in the film helmed by director Yam Laranas.

Such an award comes as Nadine’s second big win from FAMAS—having been awarded with the same merit in 2019 for her role in the Antoinette Jadaone-film “Never Not Love You,” shown in 2018.

Nadine headlined the film with actor Diego Loyzaga, as both of them render respective portrayals of a young couple who wish to flee their poor provincial life.

During her acceptance speech, Nadine extended her momentous win for her boyfriend Christophe Bariou who recently publicized his battle against cancer. More so, Nadine expressed her gratitude to friends, home studio VIVA Films, and director Yam-who she said had trusted her potential.

The 29-year-old actress was also hailed as the Female Face of The Night, while award-winning actor Mon Confiado was awarded with the same merit for the male category.

Who else won at the 71st FAMAS?

Veteran actor Noel Trinidad’s portrayal in the Nuel Naval-directed film “Family Matters” landed him as Best Actor. Simultaneously, actress Nikki Valdez’s participation in the film brought her Best Supporting Actress.

The Cineko produced-film has also managed to secure the Best Picture and Best Editing awards.

“Family Matters” is a light drama film, which centers on the life of a stroke patient and his children who constantly argue about who shall take care of their father.

The film’s quadruple win places ahead of “Blue Room” triple awards: Best Cinematography, Best Musical Score, and Ma-an Asuncion-Dagñalan as Best Director.

“Leonor Will Never Die” of ANIMA Studios was named Best Production Design—a latest addition to its success following its Sundance Film Festival Special Jury Award in 2022.
