Paolo Contis to GMA-7: “They’ve been supporting me, even the time na hindi ako kasupo-suporta”
Paolo Contis clears the air between him and GMA-7, saying that he never had any “tampo” with his mother network.
He opens up about this during the press conference for GMA-7’s “Best Time Ever” media conference, a promotional campaign for its shows “Bubble Gang,” “Family Feud,” “Amazing Earth,” “Pepito Manaloto,” “Running Man Philippines,” “iBilib,” The Boobay and Tekla Show,” and the YouTube channel YouLOL.
Paolo is present at the media conference to represent “Bubble Gang.”
By the end of the media conference, the production staff surprised Paolo with a cake since he just celebrated his birthday on March 14.
When asked about his birthday wish, the Sparkle artist just thanked his home network for the support he has been receiving with his projects.
“Wala po akong wish. Nais ko lang magpasalamat sa suporta ng GMA-7 sa akin. I want to thank GMA for always supporting me, for always supporting the show.”
Paolo then addressed the rumors circulating on social media that he has resentment towards GMA-7 after the noontime show, “Tahanang Pinakamasaya,” was cancelled.
Paolo was one of the show’s main hosts with Isko Moreno, Mavy Legaspi, Cassy Legaspi, Betong Sumaya, among others.
He said, “May kumalat po na may tampo po ako sa GMA, hindi po ‘yon totoo.
“Pero pagbigyan na po natin ang mga nagkakalat no’n, content na po nila ‘yon. Para po sa kanila ‘yon.
“But it’s not true, I love GMA. I’m very thankful to GMA and they’ve been supporting me, even the time na hindi ako kasupo-suporta. So, there’s no reason para magtampo ko sa GMA.”
But then, he used the long years of “Bubble Gang” as punchline for the fate of his short-lived noontime show.
He tells the media, “Siyempre, hindi magiging kumpleto ang ‘Bubble Gang’ at itong ‘Best Time Ever’ kung hindi niyo po kami sasamahan.
“Kaya tulungan niyo po kami dahil gusto nating paabutin ng 50 years ang ‘Bubble Gang.’ Yung isa po kasi, hindi natin mapaabot ng 50 years, pero okay lang. Ang ‘Bubble Gang,’ gusto nating paabutin.”
Laughing, he then says, “Sorry, hindi ko napigilan.“
“Tahanang Pinakamasaya,” which formerly used the title “Eat Bulaga,” only aired on GMA-7’s noontime slot as blocktimer for almost eight months.
Paolo’s inclusion, together with the other hosts, became controversial after its original hosts, Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon, left its partnership with TAPE Inc.
On January 2024, the TAPE noontime show has started using “Tahanang Pinakamasaya” after TVJ won the copyright case it filed for the ownership of the “Eat Bulaga!” title.
On March 8, 2024, TAPE Inc. released an official statement announcing the end of “Tahanang Pinakamasaya,” a week after a rumor floated on social media about its cancellation.
