Will Parokya Ni Edgar’s Music Be The Next Set To Hit The Theater Stage?

The year 2024 is set to be an exciting one for theater and Parokya ni Edgar fans alike

A new group is set to share their music with theatergoers this coming 2024!

Following the success of shows inspired by Filipino musicians like “Sa Wakas,” “Ang Huling El Bimbo,” and “Rak of Aegis,” it is speculated that Parokya ni Edgar’s music will take front and center next year.

Full House Theater Company, the team behind Ang Huling El Bimbo” (AHEB), seemingly gave hints for a new show in 2024 after the cast of the show performed a song that is not part of the Eraserheads’ repertoire.

“AHEB” writer Dingdong Novenario posted the performance during their curtain call on Sunday night, July 23, 2023.

In the said video, the cast members performed the hit OPM song “Harana” by Parokya ni Edgar.

Behind them, a screen showed icons that can be associated with the band’s other tracks: a guitar that could be for “Harana,” a slice of pizza that could be for “Picha Pie,” a mustache supposedly for “Mr. Suave,” two bottles of beer allegedly for “Inuman Na,” and a chicken (or a bird) for what may or may not be “Don’t Touch My Birdie.”

“Abangan 2024” was scribbled towards the end of the animation.

After the performance, the show even posted a QR code and challenged the viewers to guess their next musical to win tickets to a special preview.

Details have yet to be revealed by Full House Theater Company on their next show. But the said company often stages its shows at the Newport Performing Arts Theater.

Bustling theater scene

Before theater fans become awash with excitement for the Parokya ni Edgar musical, “Hamilton” is another much-looked-forward show that is set to take on the Manila stage by storm this coming September 2023.

Making it even more special is the fact that Filipina theater actress Rachelle Ann Go will be part of the show as she will be reprising her role Eliza Hamilton.

Rachelle is confirmed to do another run as Eliza Hamilton—wife of the titular figure Alexander Hamilton. This was confirmed by “Hamilton” International Tour on Instagram as it released a quick introduction of the cast.

The 36-year-old singer initially bannered the same role in London’s West End production from 2017 to 2019, which, in turn, cemented her name as “Best Actress” in the 2018 BroadwayWorld UK Awards.
