Many people have set their sights on Rabiya Mateo since the Miss Universe competition began, and now she has the number to prove it: 1 million.
Through an Instagram post on Saturday, Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo shared that she now has 1 million followers on her Instagram account. This makes her the first and only Miss Universe delegate to hit the milestone.
“Woke up with 1 Million followers! You guys are the best. Sending love to the rest of the universe. Today is a big day. Please pray for us,” the Iloilo stunner wrote in the caption.
The good news follows her cathartic Instagram Live video where she explained why her national costume during Friday’s exhibition lacked one crucial element, the sun headpiece, and how stepping into the suit caused injuries to her hand. Left in tears, Mateo was quickly comforted by her flock of supporters who praised her for pushing through despite a difficult episode.
Mateo has also captured the attention of many social media users with her casual and confident save when she fell into a swimming pool during a fun photoshoot at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Florida. She left the pool safely and stayed positive by laughing the bungle off.
Sharing her joy for reaching 1M followers was stylist Mikee Andrei, who blessed the beauty queen’s fans with stunning profiles of Mateo wearing a “fantasy lingerie” from an exclusive pictorial.
“That face, that body. Put together her mind and her heart – very Universe ready!” Andrei wrote in one of her Instagram posts in a series featuring the Philippine bet.
Mateo’s next and final challenge will be capturing the Miss Universe crown at the upcoming Finals Night this Sunday, May 16 (Monday, May 17, 8 AM Manila Time).
