The Vamps’ lead guitarist James McVey is now married! On October 30, 2021, James tied the knot with his longtime girlfriend, Kirstie Brittain, at Lulworth Castle in Dorset, England.
“I never believed the cliché ‘best day of your life’ thing, then it happened,” James posted on Instagram.
James and Kirstie, who have been together since 2014, got engaged in January 2019. The groom said that he thought a lot about proposing to Kirstie while he was in the reality TV show “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!”
“I think when you’re in the jungle [for the TV show] you have nothing to do but think and you figure out the sort of person you are and the things that mean the most to you,” James said in an interview with Hello! Magazine in 2019.
“I already knew I wanted to propose to Kirstie this year and I didn’t see why waiting six months would make any difference. I missed her so much when I was in the camp and I really struggled.”
All of James’s bandmates–Brad Simpson, Connor Ball, and Tristan Evans–were present at the wedding as his best men since he couldn’t pick just one from the bunch.
“I’m not doing it. You’re not going to get some weird story from me,” he said when he was asked to pick only one best man during a Capital FM interview.
“The Vamps will always hold such a special place in my heart… Wouldn’t trade it for the world,” James posted on Instagram to commemorate ten years since he first messaged Brad to start the band.
