Prior to being with GMA-7, Nova was in ABS-CBN for 36 years!
Veteran actress Nova Villa is back with ABS-CBN after 13 years of being with GMA-7.
She is currently seen as the grandmother of Donny Pangilinan in the Kapamilya primetime series “Can’t Buy Me Love.”
During the media conference of “Can’t Buy Me Love” on October 4 at Seda Hotel, FreebieMNL asked Nova what made her say yes to returning to ABS-CBN after a long time with GMA-7.
First, she clarified that she is now a freelancer after her TV contract with GMA-7 expired.
She then said, “I just cannot resist the offer na napakaganda dito sa aking teleserye ngayon. Nakapagpaalam naman ako ng mahusay and they gave the blessing kaya nandito ako.”

Even if she was away for 13 years from ABS-CBN, Nova did not have to adjust to the environment basically because it was her original home.
Nova says with a smile, “At home ako sa ABS because I’ve been here for 36 years. Lahat kaibigan ko.
“One thing I’ve noticed talaga, super babait ng staff. From the director, lahat, everybody.
“Lahat ng nag-aalaga sa akin sa taping, they’re very nice, they’re very loving, concerned. Kaya walang kaba, very at home and happy.”
Nova, a veteran actress since the 1960s, first forayed into TV work via the first incarnation of “Super Laff-In” in the 1970s, which aired on ABS-CBN.
Her most notable roles in ABS-CBN would be in the sitcoms “Abangan Ang Susunod Na Kabanata” and “Home Along Da Riles.” She also did several teleseryes such as “Mangarap Ka,” “Super Inggo,” and “Kokey @ Ako.”
In 2011, she transferred to GMA-7 and stayed there for 13 years. Her last project was the afternoon series “AraBella,” which ended in July 2023.

Right now, Nova is just enjoying playing her role as Lola Nene, the fun-loving adoptive grandmother of Bingo (Donny).
She says of this, “Napakaganda ng aking role na binigay nila sa akin and I’m trying my best talaga na magampanan ko ng mahusay.
“Napakaganda po ng role na yun sapagkat mga bida po ang kasama ko at ako ang kanilang lola. A typical Filipina lola na nagmamahal sa kanyang apo.”
“Can’t Buy Me Love,” which headlines the love team of Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano, airs advanced episodes on Netflix and iWant TFC. Its regular airing is on ABS-CBN Primetime Bida at 8:45 p.m.
