Vickie has Jason’s blessings for the Miss Universe Philippines crown!
Former “Pinoy Big Brother” housemate and beauty queen Vickie Rushton has received all-out support from her husband, Jason Abalos, should she decide to pursue the Miss Universe Philippines crown in the future.
Vickie was once a hopeful candidate vying for a beauty pageant crown. She first joined in 2018 in Binibining Pilipinas, where she finished first runner-up. In the following year, she tried her luck again but failed to secure any placement.
At that time, Vickie’s pageant dreams were put on hold—given that she already reached the age limit for yet another candidacy. In September 2022, she married Jason, and she eventually became a mother to a baby boy named Knoa.

In 2020, the Miss Universe Philippines franchise left BPCI and established its independent pageant and coronation in the Philippines. The organizers now lifted several restrictions in 2023, including the age limit and allowing women with spouses and children to join.
Now, Vickie is eligible again to pursue the Miss Universe crown if ever she decides to do so.

What does Jason Abalos think of Vickie Rushton joining Miss Universe Philippines?
In an interview in “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda” on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, Jason says that he does not have any reservations should Vickie try her fate on Miss Universe Philippines once more.
He says, “Oo naman! Lagi naman ganoon, laging kung ano yung gusto mong gawin, gawin mo.
“Kasi hindi naman lagi tayo magkasama. May trabaho ako, so, minsan maiinip ka rin sa buhay,” says Jason, who is currently working as a board member of the second district of Nueva Ecija.
Aside from his duties in Nueva Ecija, Jason also returns to acting via “Lilet Matias: Attorney-At-Law.”

The Sparkle artist also reveals that Vickie has been enjoying her time as a mother. As she puts it, “Sobrang nag-e-enjoy [si Vickie] sa pagiging nanay. Sobrang sobra.”
As for Jason’s part, he says that he is also a hands-on dad—especially now that he has a lot of free time to attend to their kid.
He shares that he has been more fulfilled now that they already have a son, compared to when it was just him and Vickie after marriage. With that, Jason says that he has been extra mindful of his health for his family.
He says, “Kailangan kong paghandaan. Kailangan kong maging malakas para makita kung ano ang magiging direksyon nila sa buhay.”
