“Voltes V: Legacy” Comes To SM Cinemas In April

Gabby Eigenmann reveals he cried when he first read the script of “Voltes V: Legacy!”

Two long years kept fans at the edge of their seats, and finally, “Voltes V: Legacy” is here. GMA network has shouted the final cut on April 1– a successful wrap-up as it prepares for the launch of the long-anticipated “Voltes V: Legacy: The Cinematic Experience” this coming April 19.

SM Cinemas will exclusively hold its showing starting from April 19 to 25. A three-week’s worth of special edit will be played on the big screen in 5.1 surround sound before hitting the GMA’s primetime slot later this year.

“Voltes V: Legacy” can be watched at SMCinema.com, the SM Cinema app, and SM Cinema ticket booths.

Under the direction of Mark Reyes, the live-action “Voltes V” adaptation held ’90s kids and avid followers in an exciting chokehold, as it promised a runtime “equivalent of 22 movies.” As nostalgic as it is, GMA Network’s First President and Head of Post Production Paul Ticzon teased further by saying that the “Voltes V: Legacy” post-production team worked hard to make the scenes “larger than life.”

Ticzon also emphasizes the seemingly humane touch of the adaptation. He says, “The program has stories within stories. If you’re not familiar, ‘Voltes V’ is very family-centric. Three of the five main characters are siblings so ‘yung family bond nung makakapatid na ‘yun is very, very strong.”

Among other heavy names, Gabby Eigennman and Neil Ryan Sese also made it as part of the ensemble as Commander Robinson and Dr. Hook respectively. In a zoom pocket interview on April 13, the two actors share some of the memorable moments they had while filming.

Eigenmann says, “Reading the script alone, being part of it, and reading the lines of Commander Robinson na kilalang kilala doon sa animation, the best na yun para sa akin.

The 45-year-old actor described it as “surreal,” having the opportunity to play one of the iconic roles. When asked about what it feels like to be cast, he shares, “I cried. Reading the script alone, when they tapped me to do the character of Commander Robinson, na-excite ako, kinilig ako, and then when they sent me the script, I cried.”

Kasi yun nga, reading the lines of Commander Robinson parang brings back memories,” he adds.

Eigenmann also takes pride in all the works that they had put out for “Voltes V: Legacy,” saying that they do not need to brag about the production since the output will speak for itself proudly. “Blood, sweat, and tears,” as he puts it.

Sese, on the other hand, is head-on about the pressure that goes with the film’s traction among fans. He shares, “Yung pressure mo as an actor tapos na kasi tapos na kami mag-taping, so, ngayon, yung pressure mo na lang is acceptance ng audience.”

In a seemingly affirming statement, the 43-year-old actor says, “Ginawa namin yung best sa lahat ng scenes at inaral naming mabuti so I guess ang kailangan na lang, e, abangan nila kung ano yung nagawa ng Pilipino.
