She cleared that her decision to acquire her music wasn’t driven by any animosity
OPM singer-songwriter Yeng Constantino has taken ownership of her songs, marking a significant milestone in her 17-year music career.
She expressed her gratitude to ABS-CBN’s music label Star Music for allowing her to acquire her song catalog.
In a report by PUSH, Yeng highlighted the importance of planning for the future, especially in a career that isn’t everlasting.
She mentioned, “Isa lang ito sa mga steps na ginagawa ko para mas ma-secure yung future ko. Eventually, I think, yung songs are an investment as well.”

She emphasized that any animosity did not drive the move, stating, “I’m so lucky kasi hindi siya naging war, walang ganun na nangyari… Ako mismo, personally, pumunta pa ako ng Star Music. Naiyak pa nga ako kasi, siyempre, laking hiya ko. Ayaw ko po mag-come off as ungrateful, ayaw ko pong ma-feel na I’m abandoning you, guys. It’s not that it’s more of a personal reason.”
Yeng clarified that her relationship with Star Music remains positive and explained that owning her songs opens up new creative possibilities.
She plans to rewrite lyrics and evolve as a songwriter, saying, “The good thing about owning my songs na ngayon, pwede kong i-rewrite yung lyrics kasi, siyempre, nag-go-grow din ako bilang songwriter. May mga songs dun na natatawa ako. I think I’m evolving as a songwriter as well.”

Recently, Yeng released an EP titled “Reimagined,” featuring re-recordings of some of her previous hits. She is renowned for her chart-toppers like “Salamat,” “Hawak Kamay,” and “Ikaw.” Early this year, she was named the global ambassadress of Academy of Rock.
