The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) is one of the most stressful airports in Asia. That is, according to data compiled by travel site Hawaiian Islands.
The blog findings aren’t much of a shocker for us locals. But let’s dive deep into how they came to their conclusion.
The most stressful airports in Asia and Oceania
The site examined over 1,500 Google reviews for over 500 airports worldwide. The proponents focused on comments in the evaluations based on several reviews. Most of the gathered data in their study indicated stress as a significant variable.
According to data, approximately 58% of travelers passing through NAIA experience stress. This makes the Philippine airport the third most stressful airport in Asia and Oceania.
Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Vietnam is the most stressful in the area. It had around 60.1% of reviews indicating stress, which is also among the highest in the world.
Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport in Australia came in second. The airport has become notorious for significant delays. and it’s likely one of the reasons that 59% of its Google reviews indicate stress.
Sydney Airport ranked 10th in the world in terms of flight delays. This claim was from the FlightAware data compiled by CNN Travel. According to the travel website, these heavy delays may be one reason why Sydney was dubbed the most stressful airport in Oceania. The airport experienced 34.2% in flight delays from May 26 to July 19 this year.

Is NAIA actually the worst?
Guide to Sleeping in Airports named NAIA the worst airport in the world from 2011 to 2013. The travel site noted that the airport is “large and frustrating.” Yet, the Department of Transportation questioned the credibility of the rating.
From experience, NAIA is an airport that needs some upgrading here and there. Passengers don’t need the extra stress from countless issues and delayed flights right before their vacations or business trips.
