On May 22, 2022, Filipinos will once again have the opportunity to elect new leaders, and as of late February, Philippine Daily Inquirer reported that there are 58 million registered voters in the country.

The gravity of the upcoming election cannot be highlighted enough as a new president is expected to be elected. The could mean a totally different administration. If you’re dissatisfied with the performance of elected politicians today, it’s the opportunity to put into position leaders you see fit to lead the country.

You yourself may be registered to vote already, but how do you convince others to follow suit? Well, Impact Hub Manila (IHM), in collaboration with the Philippines’ Commission on Elections (COMELEC), recently upgraded its voter education website, VotePilipinas.com, to help educate people on the process of voting registration.

According to Speed Magazine, Vote Pilipinas is the official COMELEC Voter Registration Information campaign partner. From voting precincts to important dates to remember, the website helps explain everything you should know about voting in the Philippines.

The website aims to increase the number of voter registration and election turnout in time for the next national elections. “We are thrilled for Filipino people to utilize and take advantage of Vote Pilipinas. This is a crucial step to educate voters and bring more people in to exercise their right to suffrage,” said James Jimenez, COMELEC spokesperson.

In addition to the voter registration process, the website also has other important pieces of information such as the nearest Office of the Election Officer (OEO) office to contact, a list of IDs you need, and forms to download.

While the election is still over a year away, now is the perfect time to convince other people to exercise their right to vote. Registration for voting will end on September 30, so you still have time to register (if you haven’t), and persuade others to follow suit.
